Real Educational Opportunity Lies #BTG

The Beyond The Gates Workshop #BTG on Tuesday 18 March brought together delegates representing over 50 primary and secondary schools as well as commercial, charitable, and cultural organisations. All were seeking to add value to our constantly embattled and challenged education sector.

Discussions focused on sharing knowledge and best practice with a  strong emphasis on “being different” and getting outside the comfort zone of the internal school bubble. This might include embedding a culture of fundraising into state schools. All funding should not solely be government dependent and as we will likely find out later this week government will not meet educational needs.

There was a recognition of how difficult external partnerships and revenue raising was to achieve particularly if the work load in building reputation, recruitment, resource and revenue was not itself properly resourced and researched. Opportunities came from discussions on:

  1. The Livery Movement
  2. Funding Talent and Hardship from externally raised charitable  revenue #RMGAssociates
  3. Delivering a Community Story through cost effective Communications Software  and Content #GlobalBay #GadgetLineFilms
  4. Generating community revenue through a shift to sustainable energy#Barker
  5. Improving Class Belonging and Well Being through #ASPBelong #Lina As well as students engaging in scientific research
  6. Addressing the apparent need to enrich the Arts in our schools with one MAT having to rely on students to provide the inspiration #PriceEducation #JackPepper #AstorTheatre #UnicornTheatre
